INSTA*LOVE :: REBECCA JACOBS :: @rebecca.jacobs

I'm so excited to continue the INSTA*LOVE series with the exceptionally talented and absolutely gorgeous Rebecca Jacobs :: @rebecca.jacobs! Her photos are so soft and dreamy with pale pinks and brilliant use of light.
Where do you live?

I live in [the] best neighbourhood in downtown Toronto (ha!) Where the streets around my little townhouse are filled with independent coffee shops, great food, beautiful galleries, and the best vintage!

What do you love/love to do?

I often call myself a multi-passionate as there are a few mediums I use to do what I love—and what I love to do is helping folks get more confident and clarity and tell share their stories beautifully! I help ladies with real lives and budgets share theirs through their personal style, and creatives share their stories through their branding and photography.

On a weekend morning like this one, I’m typically eating a carb-filled breakfast and pouring my heart into a newsletter I’m writing for my list—two things I love to do! (You can sign up for my list here.)
What inspires you?

My neighbourhood, and the city at large, is a huge part of my inspiration! I love all the creative energy, and the curation of beautiful things everywhere you look.

In my photography, I’m always inspired by the way the light is falling. When I’m dishing out photography help, “follow the light” is a piece of advice I frequently give. So whether it’s coming from behind something like a tree and backlighting it, or going through something like a vase or a window and changing as it comes out the other side—there’s always something beautiful to be found when you look for the light!

What do you look for when taking a photo?

Interesting light! (Did you see that one coming?) As well as a nice balance of negative space, and pops of the pastel shades I just love.

What are your favorite apps and filters to edit with?

Okay, I’m a little bit of a control freak—so I rarely edit with filters, but instead edit manually in Lightroom (they have an app and desktop version.)

I do use the Clarendon filter on Instagram after I’ve edited to make my photos pop a little more!
Who are your favorite fellow Instagrammers?

I love Instagrammers that not only share beautiful moments but also give so much of themselves to the community. (@jennakutcher and @heysweetpea do this so well!)

Some of my favourite visual inspirations are @parisinfourmonths, @lindspruitt, and @inkandpulp.
Isn't she such an inspiration and aren't those photos utterly dreamy? I love her passion for helping women feel beautiful inside and out and the beautiful way she uses light in her photography. If you're craving more (I know I am) be sure to follow her Instagram @rebecca.jacobs and you can also follow her blog here!

A special THANK YOU to Rebecca for sharing a bit of herself and her lovely photos with us.
